Happy Reunion for Rescued Beagles

This August marks one year since the world was captivated by the story of 4,000 beagles who were rescued from an animal-testing facility in Virginia. It was a historic operation lead by Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), assisted by rescue groups and shelters around the country.

Oregon Humane Society was proud to be one of the receiving shelters to serve as a safe landing pad for 80 rescued beagles.

Within a few weeks, each beagle found loving homes through our Portland and Salem Campuses and learned the joys of being a beloved pet.

On August 27, the OHS beagles gathered to celebrate one year of their new lives. Nearly 40 beagle families were in attendance, many of whom had stayed in touch through social media. The beagles provided lots of entertainment with endless games of chase, and topped off the afternoon with a slice of dog-friendly peanut butter cake.

Everyone had a howling good time!
