Mandated Service
Court-Mandated Community Service at OHS
Out of an abundance of caution, all court-mandated community service has been suspended due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) in our community. Please check back frequently to see when we will be accepting community service volunteer applications again. Thank you!
A person wanting to volunteer at OHS to fulfill court-mandated community service can do so through his/her probation officer. OHS receives referrals directly from the county office or from individuals. If you are not referred directly from the county, you will need to provide, in writing:
- Court documentation of offense
- Number of hours to be completed
- Deadline for completion
- Court contact information if possible
Requirements
All court-mandated community service volunteers must be at least 18 years of age, bring photo identification and complete an OHS application (contact info below).
Volunteer Tasks
Court-mandated community service volunteers have no contact with shelter animals or the public. Volunteer time may be spent performing the following duties:
- Washing pet dishes
- Washing/disinfecting animal crates
- Cleaning/disinfecting animal kennels
Please be aware that the Oregon Humane Society does not accept those convicted of the following crimes (all other charges will be assessed on a case-by-case basis):
