Community Coming Together
2024 (and beyond) at Oregon Humane Society
Oregon Humane Society made remarkable strides in 2024 towards our mission of creating a More Humane Society, thanks to you. Our compassionate community of animal lovers came together—from OHS volunteers to adopters to generous donors—to support animals in need in some big ways!
- Our Community Veterinary Hospital provided $1.2 million in subsidized care.
- Our Behavior Modification Team helped 182 animals find homes.
- More than 11,500 animals have been adopted across our two campuses.
- Our new Diamond in the Ruff program helped 16 long-term dogs find new homes.
As we look ahead, there are still so many animals who need our support. Check out some ways you can uplift the OHS community in 2025 as we join together to do more for animals.

Adopt
Across the nation, shelters are seeing a decreased interest in adoption, especially among large, energetic dog breeds. Longer wildfire seasons and other natural disasters are displacing more animals and people. Housing limitations are making pet ownership trickier than ever before. In the years following the COVID-19 pandemic, the landscape of animal welfare has changed rapidly and continues to do so. If you have been considering adoption, take the leap and welcome a new pet home.

Foster
If you aren’t quite ready for the commitment of caring for a new pet full-time, help a shelter animal temporarily by joining our team of dedicated foster volunteers. The OHS fostering community helps pets with a variety of needs, from older animals needing a quiet, restful space to tiny bottle babies to those healing from medical procedures while they wait for their new homes. Not only will you be helping the animal you foster, you’ll be freeing up kennel space for OHS to help even more animals in need.

Donate
Large or small, a donation to OHS is an exceptional way to show support. Your gift helps OHS provide comprehensive care to shelter animals while they await adoption, including healthy food, vaccinations, and behavioral training when needed. Donations also enable OHS to serve the community through Humane Law Enforcement, affordable veterinary care, and educational programs for youth.
Make a recurring gift pets can depend on by becoming a monthly PAWS donor! Your kindness adds up—even a $5 monthly donation will provide the building blocks for lifesaving medical care, full bellies, and loving support .
A planned gift is another beautiful way to honor and protect our beloved pets. Learn more about our unique Friends Forever ™ program.
Attend an Event
Gather with community while helping animals at an OHS event! Whether you prefer a fancy gala or a dog-friendly run/walk and festival, we’ve got inspirational events that will give you the warm, fuzzy feeling of doing good.
