OHS Scorecard Helps Voters Rank State Lawmakers
With election ballots now arriving in the mail, voters concerned about animal welfare issues should consult the Oregon Human Society's Legislative Scorecard.
The Scorecard lets voters know how their state senators and representatives voted in 2011 on a variety of animal-related bills in Salem, including bills that banned battery cages for hens and strengthened efforts to protect neglected and abused pets. The 2011 season featured an unusually high number of animal-related bills, and is still a good benchmark for measuring lawmakers.
In addition to showing how each lawmaker voted on specific bills, OHS also gave "Top Dog" awards to legislators who showed leadership and worked hard to overcome obstacles faced by these bills.
