You Can Help

Your actions can make a difference.

Thanks to the efforts of OHS supporters, Oregon has some of the nation's toughest animal cruelty laws, including felony penalties for abuse, theft, and dog fighting. OHS also lead the way in enacting legislation enabling Oregonians to better provide for pets through their estate plans.

You can help maintain and improve Oregon laws protecting animals by letting elected officials know your opinion on these important issues.

While OHS is present in Salem to represent animals before the legislature, battles in the state capitol are often won because of the grass-roots involvement of everyday citizens. Your letters and phone calls do make a difference.

The best way to keep informed about important legislation and regulations involving animals is to subscribe to Pet Dish, our e-newsletter, and to our Action Alert e-notifications (available from the Pet Dish subscription page). We'll keep you posted and let you know when government officials need to hear your voice.
