About After School Clubs
Oregon Humane Society’s After School Clubs aim to inspire, educate, and empower today’s youth to create a more humane future for animals. Sessions will feature socialization with shelter pets, animal enrichment crafts, and presentations from professionals of the industry. These clubs are not only FUN but they teach real-world skills that are foundational for future careers in the field of animal welfare!
Winter After School Clubs at the Portland Campus are now FULL.
Club Dates and Descriptions
Winter 2026 After School Club
Animal Artisans Club – January 7, 14, 21, 28 (Grades 4-5)
Animal Artisans Club is back with even more crafty fun at Oregon Humane Society! In this hands-on club, we will explore new art materials and use our creative skills to benefit shelter pets. Club participants will spend 4 weeks designing and crafting items to take home or sell in our very own Best Friends’ Corner (our onsite pet supply store).
No previous art experience or attending Part 1 are required, and 100% of the proceeds will go to support animals in our care.
Shelter Chefs Club – February 4, 11, 18, 25 (Grades 6-8)
Calling all animal lovers and foodies! Introducing Shelter Chef’s Club, where culinary fun meets compassion!
Over the course of 4 weeks, we will make healthy treats for dogs, cats, and small animals waiting to be adopted at our Portland campus, and a few extras for you to take home. (No previous cooking experience required.) Come join us as we learn about pet nutrition and make delicious snacks that are sure to bring comfort and a wagging tail to animals waiting for their forever homes!
(Please note- this club may involve exposure to common food allergens such as peanuts.)
