Happy Tails: Lottie Learns to Love

A pregnant dog from Klamath Falls learns to trust again

Lottie came to OHS on a Second Chance transport from Klamath Falls. She spent much of her early life left outside, leaving her fearful and distrusting. When Lottie arrived at OHS, it was discovered that she was pregnant, so she was sent to a foster home to give birth and learn to trust again. After several months in foster care, Lottie slowly began to warm up to people, but never fully — until she met her forever family, the Chitwoods.

They recently shared this adoption update with us:

“She has been AMAZING! She settled into our home so quickly, and has been a lover from the moment she got into our Jeep. She has met many different friends and family, and has warmed up to everyone so well. We tell everyone to give her time to sniff them before they try to pet her. She doesn’t need more than a few seconds to decide she wants pets from them. In fact, there isn’t many times during the day that she doesn’t want pets!

We have taken her on a few walks and she has done so well on them too. She hasn’t gone crazy seeing any other people or dogs. She ignores them and just enjoys her walk.

She listens so well. It is very clear how intelligent she is. She listens to everyone, but especially us. It is true when we read that herding breeds are very loyal to their owners.

I think she is in the perfect situation for her. All of her “problems” basically have disappeared. We still are cautious when introducing her to new things. But we are blown away with how well everything is going.

Thank you again. We are so thankful to have this beautiful girl in our family. We enjoyed our visit to the humane society, and loved working with you!”
