Birdie - 75081

Sponsor me! I'm sponsored by: 2 people

Name: Birdie  Code Number: 75081  Date Available: 8/10/2009   Adoption Fee: $85

Breed: Australian Shepherd/Mix     Pattern: Merle     Color: Merle/Not Specified

Gender: Female     Age:   3 Yr     Weight: 41.5 lbs.     Location: Foster -

FOSTER: Birdie is a sweet and loving dog who is searching for a quiet home with very patient and experienced owners to help her adjust to her new life. She arrived at OHS with a group of 125 dogs rescued from a neglect case in Burns, Oregon. Birdie is nervous around people and does best when you sit patiently and wait for her to come to you. She has lived with other dogs in her foster home and would appreciate another calm canine companion to help build her confidence and teach her the ropes. The root of Birdie's shyness is her lack of socialization. It is going to take time to earn her trust and love, but Birdie's foster family has made great progress. Birdie loves to go on daily walks, although she sometimes is still frightened by new things. Her foster family just loves Birdie's spirit and although sometimes progress has been slow it is steady (and helped along with her favorite snack, Cheese!). Chi Chi - 80443

Sponsor me! I'm sponsored by: 1 person

Name: Chi Chi  Code Number: 80443  Date Available: 11/4/2009   Adoption Fee: $85

Breed: Chihuahua     Pattern: Tan     Color: Tan/Not Specified

Gender: Male     Age:   8 Yr, 11 Mo     Weight: 4.5625 lbs.     Location: Foster -

FOSTER: Darling Chi Chi is a bit of an enigma. He came to us with no history and appears to have a congenital defect which has resulted in the breakdown of his wrist and ankle joints. This gives him an odd gait as he maneuvers around on his ankles, but it doesnt interfere with his personality-he is an extremely bright and affectionate guy. Chi Chi prefers to be a lap dog, and doesnt seem to want or need to cover much territory, in fact he would rather be carried most places, and at 4 pounds, this is an easy request to fulfill. Chi Chi is special and would make a wonderful companion for someone who is home most of the time and leads a quiet lifestyle. He is gentle, quiet and potty trained to a fault. He will ask to go outside with a little bark. Chi Chi has been with us for a couple of months and is enjoying the good life with his foster mom. In this time he has benefited from dental work and is beginning to show improved skin and coat from a high quality diet. Things are looking bright for this guy, but because we dont know what caused his condition, we dont know how it will affect his future. We do know that right now he has a good quality of life and doesnt seem to be in any pain. His new owners will need to monitor and manage his condition with the help of their veterinarian. Currently Chi Chi doesnt require any medication, but he may need some meds down the road if his condition worsens. We cant predict the future for Chi Chi, but we feel that he has a lot of love and happiness to bring to the right person. If this could be you please contact the foster team at foster@oregonhumane.org to request to meet Chi Chi.
