Animal Care Technicians

The Oregon Humane Society is seeking energetic, positive people to provide the highest quality of care for our dogs, cats, rabbits, rodents, and birds. Duties include monitoring their health and temperament, feeding, exercising and cleaning kennels.

A significant part of this role entails assisting potential adopters in selecting the right companion animals for their lifestyle. Strong customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively in an educational manner with the public are essential.

 

Qualified candidates will possess:

 

 

  • Basic knowledge of and experience with many breeds of dogs, canine health and behavior.
  • Previous experience in a customer service oriented environment.
  • Basic computer skills; database experience preferred.
  • High school graduate/GED. Some college course work is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills; ability to communicate in Spanish or other secondary language a plus.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays and occasional overtime
  • Ability to drive/travel occasionally, if necessary, a plus.
  • Current Oregon/Washington Driver’s License and good driving record.

 

These are full-time positions. Starting pay is $11 per hour with eligibility for an increase to $11.50 and generous benefits after 90 days.
