Return to Reactive Dog Training Classes

Reactive Adolescence Class
For more practice after completion of this class, you can enroll in Activities for Reactive Dogs or Reactive Rover Practice Class.
Reactive Adolescence Class – Portland
This class is designed for dogs between 6 -18 months old who bark, lunge, or pull toward other dogs while on leash. Through positive reinforcement and thoughtful handling techniques, we’ll help reduce leash frustration and reactivity with a focus on management strategies, calming activities, and safe practice around other dogs.
While we may touch on foundational skills like loose leash walking, recall, and polite greetings, the main goal of this class is to help adolescent dogs build better coping skills around distractions—during this sensitive stage when their brains are still developing and emotions can be big.

We take a break from classes on major holiday weekends so everyone, people and pups, can relax. Mindbody might not show these closures at sign-up, but they’ll appear on your class calendar afterward. Not sure about your schedule? Just reach out—we’re happy to help!
If you or your puppy/dog are not feeling well, please stay home and contact us at [email protected].
We are excited to offer private, in home consultations for our Reactive Rover and Reactive Adolescents graduates. This is a great opportunity to transfer the skills learned in the classroom into your dog’s neighborhood with the assistance and support of a trainer. It is also a great way to trouble shoot some areas in your neighborhood that may be difficult for your dog to handle – or work on additional training, such as reactivity in your house. Please contact [email protected] for more information or to schedule the consultations. The scheduling availability may be limited to certain times of the day and certain locations in Portland and neighboring areas.
