Update: Since the shutdown ended on Friday, Jan. 25, OHS will not be hosting additional pet food banks.

The Oregon Humane Society will launch bi-weekly pet food banks to furloughed federal employees and contractors starting on Sunday, Jan. 20.

One bag of dog food and one bag of cat food plus cat litter will be available to pet owners who have been affected by the shutdown, while supplies last. OHS will continue offering the food bank on a bi-weekly basis until the government shutdown is resolved. All of the food and supplies on hand to help federal employees was donated to OHS.

“Pets play such an important role in our lives, especially during stressful times,” says Sharon Harmon, OHS President and CEO. “OHS will continue to help federal employees care for their pets while they wait for the shutdown to be resolved.”
