Day of Giving

Sept. 30, 2026

One day to make a difference.
One day to change a life.
One day to give.

A Fundraiser You Can Attend from Home

Without you, today is just a day. You have the power to make it special. Right now, you can double the impact of your gift, up to $150,000, thanks to a $125,000 challenge match from the James C & Norma I Smith Foundation and a generous $25,000 match in honor of Maci, a senior dog who needed a second chance.

Plus tune in to KPTV FOX12 throughout the day on Sept. 30 for opportunities to have your donations go even further!

Your gift will help pets in our community by making spay/neuter and other medical services more accessible, protecting animals from abuse and neglect, and completing families by helping animals find loving homes.

Your Compassion in Action

Almost every issue we face in animal welfare can be traced back to unplanned littersโ€“the family overwhelmed by too many animals, the unspayed dog who needs emergency surgery because of an infection, the under-resourced shelter caring for a litter of puppies with parvo, the group of fragile kittens clinging to life behind a dumpster.โ€ฏ

Read on to learn how your generosity directly addresses the issue of pet overpopulation and impacts the lives of animals and people in our community!

When a community member brought a litter of neonatal kittens to Oregon Humane after discovering them huddled in a tire without a mama cat to care for them, donor support made it possible for us to say yes to helping the tiny siblings. Covered in water and oil, the kittens were in desperate need of warmth and food. Oregon Humaneโ€™s Foster team jumped into action to address the kittensโ€™ immediate needs and quickly found an experienced foster home to provide ongoing care. The kittens are now safe, healthy, and becoming more playful and curious every day.

Oregon Humane has seen an 86% increase in kittens being surrendered at our Portland campus since 2019. This dramatic uptick in young, vulnerable animals entering the shelter system means that more time and resources need to be spent on ensuring their well-being. From expensive kitten formula, to spay/neuter surgeries, to specialized treatments for infections such as ringworm, kittens require a considerable amount of care, and as the number of unwanted litters climb, that means fewer opportunities are available to help other animals in need of assistance.

Your support makes it possible for Oregon Humane to provide spay/neuter surgery for every animal entering into our care, ending the cycle of unwanted litters that lead to overpopulation.
