OHS Pet Food Bank

June 19 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

In an effort to preserve and strengthen the animal-human bond, OHS is hosting a pet-food bank for members of the community directly affected by the COVID-19 crisis.

“Pets play such an important role in our lives, especially during stressful times,” says Sharon Harmon, OHS President and CEO. “We are committed to doing everything we can to ensure that pet-owners have what they need to be able to care for their animals right now.”

What: Free pet food for essential workers and those whose employment has been affected by COVID-19.

When: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, June 18 and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, June 19

Where: Oregon Humane Society storage facility, 8001 NE 14th Pl., Portland, Ore*

*This building is to the north of the main shelter

OHS has more than 13,000 pounds of food, donated by GreaterGood.org allocated for this effort. Since the majority is dog food, OHS is also seeking donations of cat food and litter to help meet the needs of the community. You can help by ordering these items online or dropping them off at the shelter.

OHS has been working around the state to help people feed their pets during this crisis. Since late April, close to 60,000 pounds of food has been delivered to nearly every county in the state.

“We are very thankful to our partners who have supported OHS and made this effort possible,” added Harmon.
