Employee Benefits: Life at OHS

Working at OHS is about more than just a paycheck, it’s about how we make a difference in the lives of people and pets. Where we work and the value our organization brings to our community is important to us. The people we work with and the culture of our company make us happy. We receive competitive pay and benefits while the work we do each day aligns with our personal and professional goals. At OHS, we attract people who share all those values and work hard to make our organization the best possible place to work. It just may be your dream job!

Mission

For more than 150 years, animal welfare has been the heart and soul of OHS. We pride ourselves on being a national leader in this field. The Oregon Humane Society rescues, heals and adopts more than 11,000 pets each year. We never place a time limit on how long cats, dogs and other pets stay at our shelter. OHS relies on donations to support our adoption, education, and animal rescue programs. We are committed to creating a better future for pets and we work hard to achieve our goals and offer a rewarding workplace.

Culture

How it feels to be at work matters. According to a recent employee engagement survey, our employees gave OHS top scores for their overall satisfaction with the organization, their managers, and their daily work. Staff said teamwork, peers helping peers, the shared passion and compassion for the animals and great volunteers were among our other best features. OHS makes a point to listen to employee feedback and then works collaboratively to keep improving.

Pay

OHS recently conducted a compensation market study across all jobs in the organization with the goal of paying competitive wages for all positions. At OHS, we adhere to a living wage philosophy and pay all employees a minimum of $15/hour.
