FOSTER: Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and in Clyde's case he is a beautiful boy inside and out! Clyde is a 9-year-old blue merle Shetland Sheepdog who was surrendered to the shelter in dire need of medical care and lots of love. Through the dedication and hard work of our staff veterinarians and his foster parents, today Clyde is ready to start a new chapter in his life with a new family. When Clyde arrived at the Oregon Humane Society he was shy, timid and almost completely hairless due to his thyroid condition and allergies going untreated for so long. Clyde quickly endeared himself to the staff at OHS with his gentle disposition and eager-to-please attitude, despite the obvious pain and discomfort he was in. Our Medical Team at OHS immediately set to work on a treatment protocol for Clyde and his skin problems. Once his medical condition was diagnosed and under control, the next most important step in his treatment was emotionally healing the wounds from years of neglect. That is where his foster parents entered Clyde's life; they have provided him with the first true home he has ever known. In his current foster home, Clyde peacefully co-exists with his canine companions, cats and even chickens! He enjoys being the very willing recipient of all the love and attention his foster parents can bestow on him. Clyde's personality has also begun to blossom under the tender loving care of his foster parents. He is now beginning to explore his surroundings and play with his canine friends. His foster mom describes Clyde as a very loving dog who is eager to give and receive all the love he can. Clyde has overcome many obstacles and deserves to have a very special home where he can continue to recover from his previous neglect and find his happily-ever-after family. Medically, Clyde's condition has greatly improved. However, he will require ongoing medication to treat his low thyroid and allergies, and he must be fed a hypo-allergenic diet. We've see a lot of hair re-growth in the time Clyde has been with us, but he is still hairless in some places. We expect that his coat will continue to fill in as his condition improves. Clyde's care will require an investment of time and money, but we know he will repay his family tenfold with his love and loyalty. If you would like to learn more about Clyde, please contact his foster mom Nicole at nicolek@oregonhumane.org

Sam is a great dog who will be loads of fun for someone! She is super active and playful. She does have neurological problems which cause her unusual gait. She loves to play and is also affectionate; she'll try to crawl on your lap if you let her. She loves to jump up and playfully wrestle, and also enjoys playing with her food dishes - which can get noisy but is also very amusing! A behavior and medical consult is included with her adoption.

Terra is an adult dog who is in need of a patient and loving forever family. She is so very sweet and affectionate with people, but she does need someone who can be home a lot to spend time with her. She craves human attention, so if you work away from home or are out a lot then Terra isn't for you. She also needs to be your only pet, as she has a strong prey drive. Terra also has some medical issues - none that appear to need treatment, just management. She walks just fine but will misjudge distance and trip; she appears to be a bit clumsy. She needs a fully fenced yard. In return for all this, Terra will be your eternally grateful companion and will make you smile.
