Tours & Field Trips

Tours are the best way to deeply understand the work we do for pets in our community. Visit us with your classroom or group to see how we integrate compassion and kindness into everything we do

Visitors five years and older are invited to an educational presentation and tour of our facility and historical grounds. Tours will accommodate each group’s needs and we will work on this with you to determine the best fit for your goals and outcomes.

Tours of Oregon Humane Society Portland Campus include visiting the cattery, dog kennels, and small animal room. Weather permitting, visitors will learn some of OHS’s 100+ year history, stop by the beautiful Memorial Rose Garden, see the oldest animal cemetery west of the Mississippi River, and hear the story of Bobbie of Silverton.

Depending on the surgery schedule, a tour may include viewing surgery in-progress at our Animal Medical Learning Center.

  • Shelter tours and field trips are currently only available at the Portland location, located at 1067 NE Columbia Blvd. Portland, OR, 97211
  • Tours are given between 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Weekend tours are available depending on staff availability and prior arrangement.

Go where the school bus can’t go!

We are happy to take students of all ages on a live virtual tour through the shelter, including cattery, the dog kennels, our small animal room, and past our veterinary surgery window in the Medical Center. We can even show some behind-the-scenes areas that can’t be accessed in person. Afterwards, we save time for your questions.

We welcome school classrooms, scouts, clubs, community organizations, senior centers and more to visit us. Each tour includes an overview of our lifesaving work and a guided tour of our shelter. Meet some of our adoptable dogs and cats!
