The Pug Crawl was heavenly (and devilishly fun).

May 24: Pug fans braved the wind and the rain, turning out in record numbers (more than 1,000 fans) for the 10th annual OHS Pug Crawl on May 23rd.

The winner of the Pug Parade: Helga, the Chia Pug. Helga was chaperoned by Gretchen Fersch.

Runner up was Keiki, The Queen of Rosaria. She was accompanied by Liz Nelson. The theme of this year's crawl was "Pug-a-licious."

The 2010 Pug Crawl raised $8,400 for animals in need. The popular Portland event raises funds each year for the Oregon Humane Society and gives hundreds of pugs (and their owners) a chance to enjoy food, micro brews and live music while watching the annual Parade of Pugs outside of MacTarnahan's Taproom in Northwest Portland.

The taproom, part of Portland's oldest microbrewery, offered beer and classic brew house cuisine for the crowd. Collectible "Pug-a-licious" pint glasses quickly sold out.

This year's Pug Parade Grand Marshall was Anita Kissée, news reporter for KATU (2). Anita is huge fan of pugs, and her dog Sigmund won the prize for best costume in 2007.

Nearly 80 costumed pugs walked the green "runway," the most ever to participate. Pug fans gave loud cheers to a surprise appearance by Jenny the Pug, an Internet sensation whose videos have been viewed almost 1 million times.

Also on hand was Smudge, the resident Pug columnist and blogger for the Salem Statesman Journal.

Scout, the mascot for KINK fm, also delighted the crowd with a stroll down the runway. Both Smudge and Pug (and their human chaperones) served as judges for the event.
