Honor Animals with Your Personal Tributes Web Page
 |
|
Create your own Web page for special pets, people and occasions.
|
|
Picture your very own Web page on the Oregon Humane Society Website. A page that shares your story of a special person, animal or occasion. Perhaps you want to honor the memory of a departed pet, commemorate a milestone, or draw attention to animals in need.
Our new Personal Tributes Pages offer an easy way to create your own Web page with photographs and text. Tributes Pages also provide an opportunity for visitors to make an online donation to OHS on behalf of the animal, loved one or special event that is the subject of your page.
Personal Tribute Pages are a great way to:
• Remember a loved one or a cherished pet
• Create your own wedding page to send to friends and family
• Honor your Mom on Mother's Day or your Dad on Father's Day
• Announce a special occasion such as a birthday or anniversary
You’ll be able to name your Web page, upload a picture and text, and send email to friends and family asking them to visit. Once you've created your page you can update it at any time and keep track of the donations received.

Do Animals Have Feelings?
| |
 |
| |
All animals need to smile. |
Do animals really have feelings? Animals do indeed have feelings, and those feelings are as profound as any we humans may have.
Here at OHS, we do more than just provide the basic needs of food and shelter. Through your kindness and support, we are able to care for the whole animal.
Our success in tending to the emotional needs of the animals is one of the reasons OHS adoption rates in 2007 reached all-time highs:
- 98 % of all dogs
- 91% of cats
- 96% of small animals
We want to build upon this success in 2008, but we need your help
At OHS we provide for in the physical and emotional health or our animals. While the new OHS Animal Medical and Learning Center’s veterinary staff tends to the medical needs of the animals, our dedicated behavioral specialists, staff, and volunteers work to enhance their emotional well-being.
Your donation now helps insure that every animal who arrives at OHS receives the level of care you’d want for your own animal friends.

Write in "10" and Help Animals
 |
|
 |
|
| Write in "10" for animals on your tax form. |
|
Oregonians can turn their 2007 Oregon state income tax refund into dog food, cat food or even rat food! With April 15 on the horizon, Oregonians who have a refund coming can use the Oregon state tax form to easily donate all or part it to the Oregon Humane Society.
It’s as simple as entering “10” on line 68a of Form 40 (or line 38a if you use Form 40s). You can designate whatever amount you like (up to the amount of your refund), and OHS will receive that amount directly from the state of Oregon.
Donations help OHS find homes for companion animals from across the state, investigate hundreds of animal cruelty complaints, provide pet food for families in need, and much more.

Unique OHS Training Class
 |
|
| Inside new OHS center. |
|
OHS now offers a unique alternative to the typical dog training class. Our new Basic Manners Dog Training is offered throughout the week, allowing people and pets to attend as their schedule permits. You can purchase a one- or two-month pass, and attend as many sessions as you like.
The Basic Manners class, and all other offerings, are held in a new building designed from the ground up for behavior classes. We have two large arenas with lots of natural light and ample fresh-air ventilation.
Because classes fill up quickly, check the OHS Website to see current offerings. You'll find classes for excitable dogs, shy dogs, puppies and much more. We even offer a class for felines!
For details, visit our Website or call the OHS Behavior Dept. at (503) 285-7722, ext 225.

Feel The Love Longer
 |
|
| New hours at OHS. |
|
OHS is staying open longer to save even more lives. The OHS Shelter has extended its hours to 9 pm Monday through Saturday (the previous closing time was 7 pm).
The new hours (10 am - 9 pm Mon. - Sat.;
10 am - 7 pm Sun.) are the shelter's permanent hours of operation. "We're asking people to fill the longer daylight hours with a new love of their life," said Sharon Harmon, executive director of the Oregon Humane Society. “We want to be accessible for all people, including those who work all day, so that they can come to OHS and find the perfect pet.”
