The game for mobile smartphones, Pokémon GO, is making waves all over – including OHS and other animal shelters! You may have seen information about a shelter in Muncie, Indiana which is encouraging people to come walk shelter dogs while playing Pokémon. OHS already has a crew of volunteer dog-walkers who ensure our canines get needed exercise each day. However, here are some ways you are encouraged to visit OHS and our PokéStops, Gym, and of course, the pets:

  • Public tours are now offered on Saturdays: just check in at the front desk in the lobby. Directions and hours here »
  • Visit our PokéStops & Gym while you’re waiting in our lobby to meet/adopt a pet.
  • Join our volunteer team if you’d like to walk dogs regularly. We’re always accepting new volunteers, and we have a youth program, too (ages 12-17).
  • And of course, you could always keep your phone in your pocket while you do walk dogs (OHS ones if you’re a volunteer; or your own dogs) to get your mileage in!
