Speed Dating for ... Cats!

June 10, 2009: Men and women looking for loving, caring relationships are invited to the Oregon Humane Society June 25th to experience the world’s most unusual speed-dating event.

In the space of just one hour, men and women looking for love can speed date a bevy of fabulous felines.  Participants will be able to stroke, cuddle and caress their furry friends. If true love is found, the lucky couple goes home together that evening!

OHS Interpersonal relationship experts (otherwise known as adoption counselors) will be on hand at the second annual OHS Kitty Cat Speed Dating even to help make the best possible matches between people and pets. And while the initial speed date will quick, people can spend as much time as needed afterwards with their chosen feline. Last year, 16 love matches were made at the event.

"We're looking for people who want to make a commitment and adopt a cat. We have over 100 cats at the shelter and they all need loving, permanent homes," said Sandy Farnsworth, who oversees adoptions at the Portland shelter.

The Kitty Cat Speed Dating event will feature complimentary food and beverages for attendees, romantic music and special care packages for new couples.

Unlike traditional speed dating events,  there are no worries here. All OHS cats are spayed/neutered and vaccinated. They come with a microchip ID tag, one month of health insurance, and much more.
