Meet Fabulous Feline Artists And Adopt Them!

Take home a talented artist at Purrs Thursday in the Pearl, Aug. 2. And don't miss the nearby PREM party or cupcakes and doggie photo booth.

This August 2nd, the First Thursday art walk in Portland is your chance to bring stunning artwork, along with the artist who created it, into your home.

 

A special “Purrs Thursday” display at Tufenkian Artisan Carpets in the Pearl District will feature feline artists from the Oregon Humane Society. The evocative abstract paintings by cats will be available for purchase, and the cats themselves will be available for adoption.

 

Complimentary wine and other refreshments provided by Tufenkian Artisan Carpets, the sponsor of Purrs Thursday. All proceeds will benefit the Oregon Humane Society.

 

The First Thursday art walk is a Portland tradition, with a host of galleries offering special exhibitions and receptions. Visit the First Thursday website for details.

 

 

Cat Art: Evocative, Daring

What's cat art like? Their abstract styles evoke a definite longing for a settled home life that exists alongside a natural feline attraction for rapid and seemingly random movements. Viewers are likely to find signatures composed of tongue and paw marks. The paintings themselves are created using tuna water to trigger the primal desire of passionate artists to eat and create.

Is Your Cat the Cutest?

 

Although our feline friends cannot 'purrsonally' attend the Purrs Thursday event with their people, we at OHS want to provide a means for people to show off their fabulous felines.

PREM Purrs Thursday Party

For just a $5 donation to OHS at the door, you can attend one of the best parties in town! Festivities include food, drinks, music, karaoke and more. It's a short walk from the main Purrs Thursday event, so don't miss it. Directions here. No RSVP required.

Doggie Photo Booth and Cupcakes

Dog-lovers can celebrate Purrs Thursday, too! Just blocks away from the main gallery show of the evening, Cupcake Jones will be offering a photo booth for humans and/or canine companions, as well as their delicious cupcakes. They will be accepting donations to OHS at this event, and will also be donating a portion of their total sales for the month of August to help OHS animals.
