Furs Thursday

5:00-8:00 pm at Tufenkian Artisan Carpets in the Pearl, 515 NW 10th Ave.
August’s First Thursday art walk in Portland is your chance to bring stunning artwork, along with the artist who created it, into your home. A special “Furs Thursday” display will feature feline artists from the Oregon Humane Society. The evocative abstract paintings by cats will be available for purchase, and the cats themselves will be available for adoption. Feline artists include Jackson Pawllock, Pablo Purrcasso, Vincent Van Calico and Henri Moutisse Their abstract styles evoke a definite longing for a settled home life that exists alongside a natural feline attraction for rapid and seemingly random movements. Viewers are likely to find signatures composed of bite, tongue and paw marks. In addition, a variety of art and craft pieces from local artists will be on display, including ceramics, jewelry, photographs and paintings. Complimentary wine and other refreshments provided by Tufenkian Artisan Carpets, the sponsor of Furs Thursday. All proceeds will benefit the Oregon Humane Society.

Doggie Ice Cream Social
5:00 - 8:00 pm at LexiDog, 416 NW 10th Ave.

Bring your dog for a special treat at LexiDog. Your dog can enjoy doggie safe ice cream and toppings or a doggie popsicle to help beat the heat. 50% of proceeds benefits the Oregon Humane Society. There will also be dogs from OHS available for adoption at the event.

Off-Leash Control

1:00-1:50 pm, August 6-27th, at Oregon Humane Society, Manners Hall
Want to be able to get your dog’s attention when you take him outside? Want to feel like you have a little more control on walks or at the park? Come practice off leash control in a safe environment during this four-week series class. Your dog will learn how to handle distractions and gain more focus while you ultimately relax and enjoy having your dog off leash! Puppy Romp!

5:00-6:00 pm at the Oregon Humane Society, Manners Hall

Exposing your puppy to new dogs when he is young can help prevent behavioral problems as he matures. Come expose your puppy to other healthy puppies and allow them to run, play and socialize! For more information or to register for the class visit OHS Behavior and Training webpage.

Dog Wash at Whole Foods to Benefit OHS

12:00 - 4:00 pm at Whole Foods Market Laurelhurst, 2825 E Burnside St.
Beat the heat and clean up your canine companion at the same time! Whole Foods Market Laurelhurst will hold a Dog Wash Fundraiser to benefit Oregon Humane Society. Aussie Pet Grooming have kindly volunteered their services. Dogs will be treated to a shampoo, rinse and quick dry. There is a suggested donation of $10 for small dogs, $20 for medium dogs and $30 for big dogs. Oregon Humane Society will be at the event with dogs looking for homes.

Pets on the Street of Dreams
