Oregon Governor Renews Special Agent Commission and Supports Animal Cruelty Investigations in Oregon

July 16, 2005

The Oregon Humane Society is pleased to report that absent passage of a bill in the legislature, the Governor agreed to renew the Special Agent commission so that the Oregon Humane Society can continue to investigate cases of animal abuse and neglect. The Special Agent commission provides OHS's Humane (animal cruelty) Investigators with the tools they need to enforce Oregon tough animal welfare laws across the state.

The Governor’s willingness to continue commissioning the Special Agents of the Oregon Humane Society underscores his commitment to protecting the welfare of animals in Oregon. Everyone at OHS wishes to express their appreciation and thanks to Governor Kulongoski.

And THANK YOU everyone who took action by sending emails or calling their legislative representatives in support of the OHS Special Agents.
